Welcome to Novartis

Opportunities

Innovation has the power to improve lives. And as a company dedicated to improving health and wellbeing around the world, our innovation has more power than most.

The Role
As a medical sales representative and the face of Novartis, you’ll contribute to our work by sharing your insights into some of the latest innovations in medicine. More than just a sales role, you’ll challenge perceptions, change lives and enhance the knowledge of those around you – whether they be medical practitioners or allied health professionals within your territory.

The Person
We’re looking for people from a range of backgrounds. You could already be a medical sales representative working for a pharmaceutical or medical devices company. Or you might be a business, science or medical graduate, and ideally, you’ll have had some sales experience – even if it’s not in the same industry. Alternatively, you could be in the medical profession looking to change direction from your nursing or ambulance career, for example. Whatever the case, you’ll have outstanding communication skills, personal integrity and the motivation to achieve. These of course, will be rewarded with an uncapped bonus scheme and the freedom and support to succeed.

Your Training
Everyone who starts as a sales representative will go on a 5-week induction course. The course will be based at both your home state and the Novartis head office in Sydney. You’ll receive an Employee Survival Guide, which will answer all your questions related to the role and what you can expect from it. You’ll also attend a 3-day induction program in Sydney where you’ll receive the necessary training needed to work at Novartis. This is followed by a week of in-field work with experienced representatives and a week of product training, followed by another week in-field and another in sales training.

Once your initial training is complete, you’ll return to the head office to work with our Learning and Development team on more advanced sales training.

Your Future
The good news is it doesn’t end here. We will accommodate your short and long-term goals no matter what they are. And after 6-24 months (depending on your experience) you can move onto the ‘MyCareerPath’ program. Designed to guide and champion your development, this program can be tailored to your needs. It could even take you to other areas of the business, if that’s what you’re looking for. We also have creative structures in place that ensure you get results. And with continuous support and direction from your direct manager, and the Sales Force Effectiveness and Learning and Development teams, you’ll never feel like you’ve been thrown in the deep end.

The Benefits
At Novartis, we recognise that our business depends on the creativity, dedication and performance of our people. We’re committed to equal opportunity, fairness, work and lifestyle, mutual respect, and dignity at work for all staff.

Novartis aspires to be an employer of choice and believes in performance-based compensation. We support meritocracy and implement various bonus, equity and long-term performance plans to ensure the success of our people and the company.
